Volunteer

Volunteers. An essential part of
our success and sustainability.

Volunteers are the backbone of charitable organizations like ours. Just a few hours a week spent helping in our Museum and Gift Shop are invaluable to helping us create an outstanding customer experience for the thousands of visitors we receive every summer.

Research Assistants and Volunteers play an equally vital role by assisting our scientists with their work towards conserving species and the marine environment of the Lower Bay of Fundy.

Find out how you can help!

Museum & Store Volunteers

If you’re an outgoing person who’s warm, friendly and enjoys providing an outstanding experience to summer visitors, you’ll be a great fit for our small self-guided Museum and busy store. Volunteers are asked to be available a minimum of four hours a week between May 1st and September 30th.
You’ll serve customers, answer questions, provide local information to visitors, restock shelves, operate a POS terminal and handle day’s end sales and cash reports. (Don’t worry! We’ll train you.) To volunteer, please email us with your name, contact information and available dates and times.

Research Assistants

Want to join us as an RA? If you are 18+, and a Senior High School or University student, submit your application, consisting of a cover letter detailing your interest and past experience in Marine Biology together with your resumé and two relevant letters of recommendation between January 1 & March 31.
RA duties vary, but include working on the Bay with whales and porpoises, assisting with specific scientific projects, etc.
RAs receive room and board, assistance with travel expenses to and from FGrand Manan, and a small stipend.
One to four RA positions are available annually.

Film Crews & Journalists

We receive a number of requests from film crews producing documentaries and journalists writing articles to work with our scientists and researchers. We are committed to fulfilling these requests wherever possible, but our small size limits the number of requests we can assist. To be considered, please submit a witten proposal with full details re: dates, times, scope of the project and type of assistance required to the email or address below.

All enquiries and applications may be emailed to [email protected], or mailed to:
